Welcome to Geography
Intent
Our multi-faceted discipline in which the human world links and overlaps inextricably with the natural world, enables our students to develop skills to become local and global citizens.
We, in the Overton Grange Geography Department, aim to ensure that their (and our) future is sustainable through the development and delivery of an engaging and ever-evolving curriculum that incorporates a range of Human and Physical Geographical studies. We focus on developing not just curriculum facts, but:
Knowledge and understanding
Problem-solving and geographical skills
Empathy and stewardship
We wish to see our students rising to the challenges of 21st century society and global citizenship and wholly agree with Barack Obama’s observation:
The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exist across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.[1]
